Timothy International's growing ministry to international students is front and center in importance lately.
Today more than 550,000 international students and scholars from 180 nations reside in the U.S. on a temporary basis. They represent the best and brightest students from their nations. Over the next 25 years, approximately 40% of these 550,000 students currently studying in the United States will become leaders in education, business, government or the military in their native countries.
Approximately half of these students come from countries where about 90% of the unsaved peoples of the world live. Many are closed to traditional missions. Most of these international students are being educated by agnostics, atheists, humanists, and evolutionists. We believe that God wants these special visitors to receive more than just a secular education. We believe God wants them to hear about Jesus Christ.
The church has been sending missionaries all over the globe to bring the Gospel to the nations. But, times have changed. Now God is bringing the nations to America. You walk past them in the supermarkets or on the street. You observe their different facial features, dress, or accent. But have you ever stopped to consider the possibility that God has brought them here to meet a Christian like you? Yet, of the 550,000 students and scholars who came to study in the United States, fewer than 5% of them ever see the inside of a Christian home or Church.
As one Chinese scholar said," It is not that you Americans are unfriendly. You are just too busy."
For today's students a trip from Rangoon to Los Angeles is what a trip from New York to Chicago used to be. So foreign students from all over the world are flocking to American collages and universities in ever increasing numbers. God has provided the church in America with an opportunity to reach tomorrow's leaders today, an opportunity we simply cannot ignore. The doors have already closed to missionaries in many countries. If we fail to meet the challenge of reaching the international student studying here in America, many more doors will close.

July - August 2009

We want to thank the Lord for His goodness in helping us to complete our Summer Missions Trip to East/Central Africa where we trained 921 pastors during four institutes in four countries. We saw much fruit and God answered many prayers.  We are now planning for our West Africa Missions trip to Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia where we will conduct four institutes in these three countries.

Please pray for us, and if you can hellp sponsor some to attend the institutes, it would help many pastors attend them. Remember, 95% of these pastors cannot attend a Bible college or seminary because they have no money, so they are totally reliant on Christians from the West to express their love by offering them an opportunity to get this training to help them in their ministries.

We want to ask for your prayers as we make plans for our TPI Fall Missions trip in November. We are looking to conduct four pastoral training institutes in West Africa for about 1,000 pastors. We have several pastoral training teams joining us, including Pastor Scott Vail from Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC, Pastor Bob Ferguson from Gunnings Baptist Church in Blountsville, TN, and Dr. John Balmer Jr. from TPI in Lynchburg VA.
John will also be going to Johannesburg, South Africa to train 400 pastors at the end of this trip in December.

Fall Institute Schedule

We will be offering institutes in the following cities in West Africa this Fall:

1. Monrovia, Liberia
November 2-6 (200 pastors)

2. Kaduna, Nigeria
